Student Shout-Out: Meet My Mom, Margaret — My Biggest Inspiration
A Lifelong Role Model
For as long as I can remember, my mom has been one of my greatest teachers. She raised my sister and me to be strong, independent, and hard-working women, leading by example with love, kindness, and quiet determination.
Over the past few years, she’s also become my yoga and fitness buddy—joining me regularly for online classes and workshops. When I launched my health coaching membership this past spring, she didn’t hesitate: “Sign me up!” she said, and she’s been showing up with such enthusiasm ever since.
Chasing Big Goals—At Any Age
My mom’s commitment to wellness didn’t start recently. Back in May 2016, she set out to accomplish something bold: walking the Ogden Half Marathon—a challenging 13.1-mile race known for steep hills and intense heat.
Despite the 90-degree weather and managing lifelong asthma, she showed up, laced up, and pushed through. She hadn’t trained for months, but her heart and determination carried her through every step.
Together with my Aunt Kathy and cousin Molly, we tackled the grueling course, sweating, laughing, encouraging each other, and climbing what felt like endless hills. It took over four hours, but we crossed the finish line beaming with pride and accomplishment. ✨
Never Too Late to Start Something Powerful
My mom reminds me daily that it’s never too late to chase big goals—whether it’s walking a half marathon, showing up for weekly yoga, or taking charge of your health in your 60s and beyond.
Her story is one of courage, resilience, and the kind of strength that comes from believing in yourself and taking one step at a time—literally.
Mom, thank you for showing me what strength looks like in every season of life. 💕
Update: Sept. 26, 2026-Mom and I are officially training for next year's race!!
